The Werner Steel Pump Jack features a rugged hand crank and safety brake for easy operation and accommodates up to a 24 in. wide plank. This jack offers the exclusive Pole-Track system and includes a slip-resistant foot lever with an oversized boot strap. Its sturdy steel construction ensures solid support and lasting durability for any jobsite. Once I figured out how it is lowered, works fine. However, the tolerances on screwed together 2x4 posts are a little tight. I used pressure treated 2x4's and had to shave off a little material to get the jacks to work.

works great. Had allot of problems coming down at first. I planed my 2x4s smooth with an electric hand planer. I also wrapped a 3 1/2" piece of garden hose on each of the top catches that were digging into the 2x4s on the way down. Worked great, no slippage on the way up, no digging in on the way down. 1/2 inch black automotive hose would also work and last longer. I also used steel plates and screws to strengthen the joints in the 2x4s.

These work great. The fellow who calls himself Worker, wrote a review, said the jacks won't crank down. I had the same problem when I first used these jacks. Then I read the instructions and found out that the lower foot lever needs to be depressed to release tension in order for the crank to work, so that the platform can be lowered. It works as a safety device and must bed disengaged to lower the jacks and platform. It requires both legs and both arms all at once. Left leg in pump stirrup,... well, read the instructions.

There is a learning curve, especially if you’re setting it without experience. The second time I set it up was so much faster than the first; trusting the system takes a little while but then it just seems ingenious. I can’t imagine installing second and third story windows as easily without them.

Entire pump jack system was easy to assemble. My only problem came when I tried to lower the pump jacks back to the ground. I had difficulty in getting the crank to engage and work the pump jack down. It took, in my opinion, too much messing around to get the jacks to lower. Otherwise I was pleased with the purchase.

The pump jacks are a little cumbersome, and take a bit of familiarization, but they work great! They are a heavy-duty product that should hold up for years. I use mine with doubled 2X4s, which are a fine cost saver for posts. The cast aluminum posts would likely provide smoother operation. I would also recommend the brace sets. I needed to get closer to the house, so I made temporary wooden braces.

The pump jacks worked great for lifting a large awning about 7 feet. It took a little time getting comfortable and familiar with it, especially going down. Not sure if I'd use it for anything over 10 feet.

Removing old windows and installing new ones using an extension ladder is difficult and dangerous. Building scaffolding is expensive and time consuming. Using pump jacks gives you access to the work from a stable platform and is a lot safer. The Werner pump jack design makes it impossible to assemble incorrectly. Get your uprights and dock boards set up, stick your foot in the "pump", and up you go.

Right amount of performance for the price. I've had better and worse so knew what to expect. Usually, the coming down is where you may have issues. Using a medium density wood for your poles will help. They don't and I don't recommend pine.
